Dr. Akilesh Honasoge is a board-certified cardiologist with advanced expertise in minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures to treat heart and vascular conditions. By integrating personalized, patient-centered lifestyle changes with the most current medical therapies, Dr. Honasoge helps patients slow the progression of disease and optimize their overall health. When interventional treatment becomes necessary, he utilizes cutting-edge technologies to restore blood flow, relieve symptoms, enhance mobility, and improve both quality and length of life. He also understands that not every condition requires a procedure, and he works closely with each patient to determine the most appropriate course of care.

Dr. Honasoge earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed his residency in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where he also served as Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in both Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at Rush University Medical Center where he also served as Chief Fellow.

Dr. Honasoge has several clinical interests including myocardial infarction (heart attack), critical care, coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and structural heart disease. He holds numerous board certifications including Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Internal Medicine, and Emergency Medicine.
