Kimberly A. Johnson is a Board Certified Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with subspecialty Board Certifications in Critical Care and Cardiac Vascular Disease. She completed her Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (MSN) degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to healthcare, Kimberly was a project manager at a National Publishing House and a Director of Academic and Publisher Relations at a software company. After transitioning to Nursing, she enthusiastically worked as a Critical Care and Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse before becoming a Nurse Manager. In San Diego, she was a Clinical Lead in the MICU/SICU at Sharp Chula Vista. As a clinical leader throughout Sharp Healthcare she was selected to complete the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. She led several key project teams receiving recognition by Sharp HealthCare’s Executive Leadership team for reducing length of stays in the Intensive Care Unit.
As a Nurse Practitioner with Cardiovascular Institute of San Diego, she utilizes a combination of clinical and administrative skills each day. She enjoys building relationships with all CVISD team members while assimilating her clinical interests into practice. Her goals of preventing Cardiovascular Disease while taking time to ensure her patients understand how to optimize their medical management and verify their complete understanding of each visit is evident in every encounter.
